Puget Sound Energy Provides Natural Gas Detection Tips

Posted on September 5, 2013

A new report provides some important tips on detecting a leak of natural gas and going into action in order to stay safe when such an emanation occurs.  The advice, which comes from the Washington-based Puget Sound Energy, notes that natural gas contains an odorant put in place by gas providers so that it can be detected by consumers.  An evacuation plan should be put into action the moment that that gas smell is detected.  This evacuation should occur without the persons in the vicinity using their phones or turning on any light switches or electrical appliances, as it takes hardly anything at all for the gas to be set alight.  Once everyone is clear of the home, a family member should dial 911 and then get in touch with the gas company so that the issue can be taken care of promptly.
