Fall Hazard Prompts Recall of Giant Bicycles By Newbury Park Company

Posted on August 8, 2013

The Newbury Park, California-based Giant Bicycles has announced the recall of XtC Advanced SL 29er 1 and 29er 0 bikes due to a fall hazard posed.  The recall also pertains to a series of seatposts that would have been sold apart from the bike itself.  Whether coming with the bike or purchased separately, the carbon fiber seatposts are in danger of sustaining a crack.  Should this crack become large enough, the rider could fall off the bike while in motion.  Five breakage incidents have already been reported, and to ensure that no more are allowed to take place, owners of the bikes should cease riding and get in touch with Giant Bicycle.  The company will provide new seatposts.  The bikes were available across the country from last November to this past May.
