Hard Cider Recalled By Square Mile Due to Bottle Breakage Risk

Posted on July 22, 2013

Two types of hard apple ciders are being recalled because of a possibility that the bottles could burst and injure the individual holding the items.  The recall was issued by the Square Mile Cider Company and affects 22 ounce bottles of “Spur & Vine Hopped” and “Original” Hard Apple Cider.  The 2,500 cases of products that were only sold in Oregon, Washington, and California could experience refermentation.  If this were to occur, not only could the flavor be altered, but the bottle could shatter, posing a laceration hazard.  No instances of such nor attendant injuries have come to the fore at this time.  The company is asking owners to get rid of the affected hard cider at once.
