Los Angeles Company Recalls Pistachios Due to Salmonella Risk

Posted on July 12, 2013

A Los Angeles company is recalling three different sized packages of pistachios because of the possibility that they could be beset by a Salmonella contamination.  The Western Mixers Produce & Nut Company issued the recall, which affects Treasured Harvest Roasted & Salted Pistachios in a 28, 12, or six ounce package.  A dozen lot numbers are affected, and each of the products would have been available in California, Ohio, Utah, and Nevada between October 17 and April 29.  ARO pistachios, which apparently may be potentially found within these products, had been recalled for the same reason and thus this recall was deemed necessary.  An analysis of Western Mixers pistachios has not identified any Salmonella contamination at this time, and to ensure that continues, purchasers should throw out or return the items.
