Tampa Bay Attempts to Improve Pedestrian Safety

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on August 7, 2012

Florida has had trouble with pedestrian deaths as of late, with the entire state having a fatality rate twice as high as the national average.  And Tampa Bay’s stats are particularly troubling; if the city were a state, it would rank #16 in overall pedestrian deaths.  That’s why $2 million was recently made available to the city by the Florida Department of Transportation.  Various pedestrian improvements were made, including an expansion of available sidewalks and a surge in walk signals that count down instead of just flashing.  Improvements to visibility are also being put in place.
