Texting and driving is still an issue in 2012, even with new regulations in place. In 2011, as much as 23 percent of auto accidents involved mobile phone usage of some kind. It is reported that five seconds of reaction time is taken away when a driver is focusing on their text instead of focusing on the road, and collisions are 23 times as likely to occur when a driver is looking down at their cell phone in order to send a quick text while driving.
