Another company is reacting to the news out of the Food and Drug Administration that all shellfish imported from Korea, including those items that came in cans, might be adulterated.
This announcement has now prompted Crown Prince to recall four different products that might contain the adulterated fish. All items in question are under the Crown Prince brand. They are Whole Boiled Oysters, Natural Whole Boiled Oysters, Natural Smoked Oysters with Chili Pepper, and Natural Smoked Oysters in Olive Oil. The company is asking retailers to remove any forms of this product that might hold Korean shellfish and requesting wholesalers to suspend shipments of those items that are suspected to be contaminated.
Originally, the FDA had only issued a warning on May 18 concerning fresh and frozen shellfish. That announcement was later amended to reflect concerns over canned shellfish from Korea as well. Crown Prince has stated that, as far as they know, the United States and Korea are negotiating at the moment, and the company has vowed to continue to provide updates should they become necessary. They have even gone so far as to send the president of the company to South Korea in order to learn more about what’s going on.
Crown Prince has stated that no shellfish beside that which was exported from Korea is affected by the recall.
