Bon Hiver Incorporated of Chester, New York, has issued a voluntary recall for approximately 200 units of its snowboard bindings. These bindings can create a potential falling danger for the rider if the binding’s base plate breaks during use. Bon Hiver Freebase board bindings with the following model names and series numbers are affected by this recall: 11 Series – Assault or Infrared, 13 Series – Arsenal or Hellfire and 18 Series – Stealth or Storm. The series number can be found on the side of one of the footplates and next to the Bon Hiver logo on the back of the boot base. The bindings are packaged in pairs with each binding comprising a base plate and a boot base. The affected bindings, manufactured in China, were sold at various snowboard and ski shops as well as the manufacturer’s website between November and December of 2011. The company was first made aware of the problem when two consumers complained of base plate breakage. Owners of the affected bindings should discontinue their use and return them to the manufacturer for a replacement pair and a refund of 20 percent of the original price.
