Recall: Schwinn Elliptical Exercise Trainer Due To Fall Risks

Posted on December 6, 2011

According to news sources, about 10,000 units of the Elliptical Exercise Trainer distributed by Nautilus Inc. have been recalled due to fall hazards arising from the foot plates on the equipment potentially detaching during usage of the machine.

The company has announced the voluntary recall in cooperation with The U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission after it was found that the foot plates on the equipment can detach, posing a fall hazard for users. The recalled equipment has a model name Schwinn 460 and has handlebars that include heart rate sensors, along with a touch-screen console.

The recalled machine has been sold nationwide from July 2008 through May 2011 for a retail price of about $1,000.

Consumers with the recalled machine should stop using it immediately and contact the company at 800-259-9019 for a free repair kit.
